Spinal Cord Injuries – Get Disability Tax Benefits To Help Cope With It

Spinal cord injuries occur when a person’s spinal cord is damaged due to an injury or trauma. Since the spinal cord carries impulses from the brain to various parts of the body, the damage could result in a loss in communication between the brain and the body resulting in immobility. Usually complete damage to the spinal cord implies less than 5% chance of recovery, which means that the person would have to live with the paralysis or loss of feeling for the rest of his life. In the case of partial damage, the chances of recovery are better and the person may be able to walk once more if given proper treatment.

Depending on the type of paralysis, the person may not be able to move one or more limbs. In the case of spinal cord injuries where the person in unable to move all four limbs, it would result in him being confined to a hospital bed. Any person suffering from this condition would experience the feeling of his life falling apart. Depending on the type of paralysis, he would not be able to work temporarily or in some cases permanently resulting in a loss of income. In addition, the prohibitive costs involved in treatment and care would add to his financial difficulties.

The Canadian Government provides disability tax benefits to persons suffering from injuries to the spinal cord to help make it easier for them to manage financially. There are several benefits that a person can get to meet the cost of rehabilitation. These include the costs incurred for treatment as well as assistance in getting equipment to help with making the patient independent such as wheelchairs, modified vehicles and lifts. In addition, other costs that help the person carry on his daily activities are reimbursed such as computers to help with functional capabilities, cost of hiring attendants and sometimes even the cost involved in travelling on vacation.

It is difficult to find all the possible benefits that a person suffering from spinal cord injuries can get unless time is spent researching the various options and this would be impossible to do for the patient or his family who are trying to cope with a new way of life. Hence, it is best to get the services of a professional organization such as the Canadian Disability Corporation to assist with this. Their team of experts offers free evaluation of whether a person is eligible for disability tax benefits and if they do meet the criteria, the experts can guide them about the procedure for applying for disability tax credits.

This is just a few of the disabilities that qualify. If you believe that you have a disability fill out the form below to find out if you qualify!

"I wish everyone could know how CDC has saved me. Sometimes you don’t believe good things can happen. I was wrong; I had never seen a company do so much for me for so little.

Thank you again and again"

David. N. – Oshawa, ON

“As a family we must express our deepest thanks to you for helping us claim our disability tax rebate. Your expertise and professionalism made the procedure ever so simple and understandable. I will recommend you too many!”

“CDC has changed the life for both my child and I. Raising a child with autism is not easy and can be very expensive. With my current income, I could not afford some of the courses, and workshops necessary to educate myself on my son’s disability. But with the help and professionalism of CDC, I was able to get the money I needed to help educate myself on my son’s disability and put him in programs that help develop his skills. “

Fran E. – Guelph, ON

“I’m going to explain why I am so grateful to the CDC and all that they have done.“

Being diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I have been fired from jobs continuously. I didn’t have very much money because of the loss of jobs; I couldn’t sit at my desks for more than twenty minutes without having to go to the bathroom. I was really in a bad situation with nowhere to turn, until someone introduced me to CDC. With the help of CDC, I was able to receive the money I deserved and they did everything, they were so professional even though I was embarrassed about my disability, they made me feel as if it was nothing.”
